Today we will create Spiro Graph Effect in Adobe Illustrator. Spiro Graph is a geometric drawing device and with the help of this device mathematical roulette curves are produced. We will create this effect with the help of Star Tool, Direct Selection Tool and Transform Effect.

Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:

Step 1

Select the Star Tool from the Tool Panel and click on the artboard. A dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box set the sides of the star to 4 and then click OK.

Step 2

Now press and hold Shift key and drag the corner of the shape to increase the size.

After increasing the size of the shape, we will rotate it with the help of Selection Tool.

Step 3

Make sure that the shape is selected and then turn off the Fill color of the shape and choose a gradient as a Stroke color.

Step 4

Now select the Direct Selection Tool and convert the corner edges into a round curve. Select an anchor point and drag it towards the center to make the edges curved.

Now press and hold Shift key and select the four inner anchor points. Then drag the anchor points away from the center. (See the below image)

After making all the changes you will get the shape as shown in below image.

Step 5

Again select the Selection Tool and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Transform and select Rotate.

Now rotate the shape to 5o degree angle and click on Copy.

Now press Ctrl + D to repeat the rotation.

Select the Ellipse Tool and draw a circle on the artboard. Turn off the Fill color for the circle.

Now select the circle drawn and go to the Strokes Panel to increase the width of the Stroke.

Again select the circle and press & hold Alt key. Now drag the selection to create a duplicate copy of it.

Now with the help of Direct Selection Tool, select the top left part of the duplicate circle and hit backspace.

Let the duplicate layer of the circle be selected and double click on the Gradient Tool in the Tool Panel to open the Gradient Panel. Click on the gradient to activate it and the selected shape will be filled with a black and white gradient.

Now change the color of the gradient. The gradient filled will be from dark to light.

Again go to the Stroke Panel and change the cap of the selected stroke to Round Caps.

Now select the original circle and change the stroke color to # 633b4c and place the duplicate circle above the original circle.

In today’s tutorial you will learn to make Fingerprint Design in Adobe Illustrator. The tools which will be used in the tutorial are Ellipse Tool, Offset Path, Direct Selection Tool and Pathfinder Panel.

Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:

Step 1

Select the Ellipse Tool and create a circle of size 40 pt X 40 pt. Turn off the Fill color for the circle.

With the help of Selection Tool, select the circle and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Path and select Offset Path.

Offset Path dialogue box will appear on the artboard. Now create an offset path of 10 pt and click on OK.

Similarly create few more Offset Paths. (See the image below)

Step 3

Now select the second inner most circles with the help of Selection Tool. Press and hold Alt key and drag the selection to create duplicate copy of it.

Place the duplicate copy of the circle at the edge of the outer most circle as shown in the below image.

Select the duplicate copy of the circle and create an offset path in the same way as created in Step 2.

Step 5

Press Ctrl + A and go to the Pathfinder Panel. To open the Pathfinder Panel press Shift + Ctrl + F9.
In the Pathfinder Panel, click on Divide and then Ungroup the whole selection.

Step 6

After ungrouping the selection, delete all the unnecessary paths of the larger circles.

Now select the Direct Selection Tool and remove the unnecessary paths of the remaining circle.

Now we will remove few more lines to make it look like a Fingerprint. Then we will make the caps of the stroke rounded.

Now increase the stroke width and change the color of the stroke.

Today we will create Geometric Abstract Background in Adobe Illustrator with the help of Rectangle Tool.

Open Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:

Step 1

Select the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle same as the size of the artboard. Now fill that rectangle with any gradient.

Select the rectangle drawn and press Ctrl + 2 to lock the background.

Step 2

Again select the Rectangle Tool and draw a square on the artboard. Turn off the Fill color for the square shape and select White as the Stroke color.

With the help of Selection Tool, select the square shape and rotate it to 450 angles.

Step 3

Now draw two more square shape of small size and place them inside the larger shape. Then with the help of Pen Tool, join the corners of the inner two square shapes. (See the image below)

Select all the shapes and press Ctrl + G to group them. Now select the group created and press and hold Alt key then drag the selection to create a duplicate copy of it.

Similarly, create few more duplicate copies and place them as shown in the below image.

Select all the groups of the square shapes and press Ctrl + G to create another group.

After creating the group, select it and then press and hold Alt key. Drag the selection and create a duplicate copy of it. Place the duplicate copy aside.

Step 4

Select the Rectangle Tool and turn off the Fill and Stroke color. Now draw a rectangle same as the size of the artboard.

With the help of Selection Tool and Shift key, select the new layer of the rectangle and the group of square shapes. Now press Ctrl + 7 to create a Clipping Mask.

Step 5


Select the Clipping Mask created and changes its blending mode to Overlay.

Now select the group of square shapes which we had kept aside. Drag and place it on the artboard and rotate it change its angle.

Select the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle on the artboard. Then select the group of square shapes and the rectangle and press Ctrl + 7 to create a Clipping Mask.

Change the blending mode of the Clipping Mask to Overlay.

You can also reduce the Opacity of both the Clipping Masks.
