In today’s tutorial you will learn to Fill Letter with Text in Adobe Illustrator. This typography effect is easy to learn. We will only use Type Tool to create this typography effect.

Step 1

Launch Adobe Illustrator and create new document. Select the Type Tool from the Tool Panel and type a letter on the artboard.

Keep the letter selected and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Now click on Expand.

Expand dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, put checkmark on Object and Fill and click OK.

Step 2

Again click on Object in the Menu Bar and this time you will place the cursor on Compound Path and select Release.

Select the Type Tool and click on the path of the letter. Now you can either type the text or copy paste it to Fill the Letter with Text.

Before typing or copying the text reduce the font size.

I want the letter to be wholly filled with the text so I will reduce the font size first. Then I will reduce the spacing between the words; horizontally and vertically.

In the Paragraph Panel, change the alignment to Justify All Lines.

After doing all required changes your letter will look like this-

If you wish you can change the color of the fillings. Simply select them and go to the Swatches Panel and change the fill color.
