Escher Infinity Shape in Adobe Illustrator
In today’s tutorial, you will learn to create an
impossible shape which is an Escher
Infinity Shape in Adobe Illustrator. To create this shape, we will use Polygon
Tool and Shape Builder Tool.
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new
document. Now follow the below steps-
Step 1
Select the Polygon Tool from the Tool
Panel and draw a triangle.
With the help of Selection Tool, select the
triangle and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on
Transform and select Reflect.
Object
> Transform > Reflect
A dialogue box will appear when you will click on Reflect.
In that dialogue box, select Horizontal Axis click on Copy.
Select the new triangle created and drags it above
to place it in such a manner that the tips of both the triangles join.
You can either group both the triangles or go
to the Pathfinder Panel to Unite them.
Step 2
Select the shape created and disable the fill. Now press
and hold Alt Key to create a duplicate copy of the shape.
Create one more duplicate copy and place it as shown
in the below image.
Create 4 more duplicate copies and place them as shown
in the below image.
Step 3
Press Ctrl
+ A to select all the shapes and then select the Shape Builder Tool
from the Tool Panel. Now we will merge the shapes to create an Escher Infinity Shape.
In the below images the red highlighted area shows
the shape which will be formed after merging them.
Step 4
After merging the shapes, with the help of Shape
builder Tool, we will shape the corners of our Escher Infinity Shape. With the help of Direct Selection
Tool, select the anchor point marked in the below image.
Now drag that anchor point towards left to join it
with the next anchor point.
Now similarly join rest of the corner points.
Fill color in the shapes and an Escher Infinity Shape in Adobe Illustrator is ready.
