In today’s tutorial, you will learn to create Cylindrical Text in Adobe Illustrator with the help of Envelope Distort and few other tools. With the help of the Envelope Distort Tool, we can wrap the text into any shape.

Step 1
 
Open Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now select the Rectangle Tool from the Tool Panel and draw a rectangle on the artboard. Then select the Direct Selection Tool and round the corners of the rectangle.

Step 2
 
Select the rectangle and click on Effect in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on 3Dand select Rotate.

A dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, put a checkmark on Preview and manually rotate the cube. (See the below image)

Click OK and then create a copy of the shape. To create the copy, first of all, select the shape and then press and hold the Alt key. Now drag the shape and the duplicate copy will be created.
Select the rectangles and then Expand their Appearance. Ungroup all the shapes and then Release Clipping Mask and then Release Compound Path. Remove all the extra paths and at last, you will be left with the two rounded shapes.
Step 3
 
Select the Pen Tool from the Tool Panel and draw two lines joining the shapes. This forms the cylindrical shape. (See the below image)

Press Ctrl + A to select all the shapes and then select the Scissor Tool. With the help of ScissorTool, we will remove all the extra shapes.

Step 4
 
Now create a duplicate copy of the shape obtained and with the help of 3D Rotate we will rotate the duplicate copy.

Click OK and then select Expand Appearance. Ungroup all the shapes and then Release Clipping Mask and then Release Compound Path. At last, remove all the extra paths.
Step 5
 
Select the Type Tool from the Tool Panel and type your text.

Select both the text and right-click on your mouse. Then place the cursor on Arrange and select Send to Back.

Step 6
 
Select one text and shape and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Envelope Distort and select Make with Top Object.

Do the same with the remaining text and shape.

Step 7
 
Now arrange both the wrapped text in the manner that it forms a Cylindrical Shape.
