Today we will make a Swirling Artwork in Adobe Illustrator. We will use Ellipse Tool and Transform Effect to make this artwork.

Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:

Step 1

Select the Ellipse Tool from the Tool Panel and draw an ellipse on the artboard.

Step 2

Now select the Direct Selection Tool and click on the left anchor point. Now convert the selected anchor points to corner.

In the same way, convert the right anchor point.

Step 3

Now fill the shape with a gradient.

Select the shape and click on Effect in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Distort & Transform and select Transform.

Transform Effect dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, set the Angle and Number of Copies. Also set the Reference Point as shown in the below image. Check the Preview and click OK.

Step 5

With the help of Selection Tool, select the shape and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Then click on Expand Appearance.

Step 6

Now open the Align Panel and click on Horizontal Align Center and Vertical Align Center to align the shapes in the center of the artboard.

Step 6

Let all the shapes be selected and press Shift + Ctrl + G to Ungroup the shapes. You have to ungroup the shapes two times.

After ungrouping the shapes, open Transparency Panel and change the blend mode to Color Burn.
