In today’s tutorial you will learn to draw a Hot Air Balloon in Adobe Illustrator. We will use Pen Tool, Blend Tool, Shape Builder Tool, and Gradient Tool for drawing Hot Air Balloon.

Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document of size 1000 pt X 1000 pt.

Now follow the below steps:

Step 1

Select the Pen Tool and draw the shape as shown in the below image.

Now select the shape and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Transform and select Reflect.

A dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, select the Vertical Axis and click on Copy.

Step 2

Now press Ctrl + A to select both the shapes and then press Alt + Ctrl + B to make a Blend.
Double click on the Blend Tool in the Tool Panel to open the Blend Options dialogue box.

In the Blend Options dialogue box, put checkmark on Preview and then increase the Specified Steps.

Let the shapes be selected and then click on Object in the Menu Bar and select Expand.

After expanding the selection, ungroup by pressing Shift + Ctrl + G.

Step 3

Press Ctrl + A then select the Shape Builder Tool from the Tool Panel. With the help of Shape Builder Tool we will add the paths to form a shape.

Similarly add the remaining paths also.

Step 4

Now fill the shapes with a gradient. You can also use the Gradient Tool from the Tool Panel.

Step 5

Now with the help of Pen Tool we will draw the basket and strings of the Hot Air Balloon.
